Conditions for participation in Things Talk
The website for Things Talk is publicly accessible to all. All the materials can be downloaded for free. On the website, you will be able to find photos and short texts uploaded by classes who have worked on Things Talk.
You must only enrol in the project once your class has worked on Things Talk and have made their junk sculptures. When you have enrolled your class, you will be sent an email requesting verification of your email address. You will then be able to log on to the website straight away to start uploading the pictures and climate thoughts of your class.
New classes and projects must be approved by the proprietors of Things Talk, before they are made accessible on the website. The requirements for approval are primarily, that the pictures and the texts – at the discretion of the proprietors – do not contain elements which would offend either the children participating or others.
Remember that your login is personal, i.e. do not give it to others. Remember that your login is only necessary for uploading projects to the site. Children, parents and other interested parties will be able to go in and see what you and others have put on the site, without logging in. You will be able to change anything you have uploaded, at any time.
The following rules apply to the Things Talk website:
• Everything that is written on the Things Talk website must be written in English, so that as many people as possible will be able to read it.
• Photos should, as a rule, only contain pictures of the children’s junk sculptures.
• Children and their parents must agree to photos of the children’s artwork being made public on the website
www.tingtaler.dk and in connection with information and advertising of the project, without copyright-based payment transactions.
• The proprietors of the Things Talk website cannot take responsibility for the copying of photos from the site, but refer to Danish Copyright Law, which requires the consent of the creator of the work – in this case, the child and the parents of the child.
• If the child is included on the picture, the teacher is obliged to ensure that the parents of the child have given written consent to publicise the picture of the child, unless it is a press picture.
• Avoid talking about others in disparaging terms.
• Avoid the use of words or phrases that could offend others.
• Avoid providing links to commercial or obviously illegal websites.
• It is up to you, as the teacher/instructor, to ensure that the material uploaded accords with the laws and customs of the country that your class comes from.
The proprietors of Things Talk reserve the right not to publicise or to delete any material which they deem to be offensive or otherwise problematic.
By participating in Things Talk, you give the proprietors of Things Talk the right to use all photos and texts for presentation of the project and its fundamental message. The same photos and texts will be included, in a variety of ways, at the Children’s Climate Conference and in the children’s message to the decision takers at COP15.
